Gifts to Directors after Submitting Resignation

Would like to get the WSO opinion on striking a balance between giving meaningful gifts and going overboard after leaving a job on good terms.

I'm an associate in a small satellite office of an REPE and am leaving for another shop. I started my career here and have close relationships with everyone in the office, I've done high quality work and am (under the impression that I'm) well liked and respected. It would be easy to get everyone a nice bottle of whiskey or a tie and call it a day but, given I know enough about these people to do something personal (ex. one guy is really into his cologne, one guy is die hard Mets), my inclination is to be thoughtful about it. The counter argument is that something too nice / personal might create an uncomfortable feeling of obligation. Is there downside to being a bit extra on departure gifts?
