DB vs RBC vs BlackRock for Real Estate

Hi if my end goal is to get into Brookfield/Starwood/Blackstone Real Estate (either Acquisitions or Debt Strategies), am I better off starting at DB Real Estate Investment Banking or RBC Real Estate Capital Partners?

Would greatly appreciate any advice, thank you.

RBC will never get you to the MF listed above. DB IB can and thus I highly recommend you take the IBD offer and hope you get on the RE team. Best of luck!

Chiming in as someone who did IB then moved on to a top RE shop. DB for sure because RE isn’t that coveted of a coverage group (at any bank, not just DB). The skillset is pretty niche and so people tend to avoid it in favor of the other coverage groups.

It’s really between DB REIB vs RBC REIB and I’d say DB is a clear winner. Different story if you were doing something RE-related at BlackRock, then BlackRock would be the clear winner.
