Changing Careers

I have spent the past 4 years in the wealth management space, the last year being at a multi family office. I've decided I have zero passion for things that come along with this practice like tax, trust/estate, insurance. I really only care about the investment portion of the job. My firm does a lot of illiquid investments and RE PE is one of the asset classes. I currently work under the head of the RE sleeve of the investment committee. My first job out of college and internships were in commercial real estate underwriting so I have some baseline knowledge but it has been awhile. This experience here made me realize how much more I would enjoy working in CRE again.

Long story short I'm trying to get back into CRE and want to know the best opportunities to pursue for someone that has ~5 years work experience but no recent true CRE experience. I have been taking excel courses recently (REFM/Break into CRE) to sharpen my modeling skills that have been left behind in the wealth management space. I am currently networking with some people as well.

I would appreciate any tips from someone who has made a switch like this or anyone who could just recommend a good starting point to consider. Hoping I won't take a massive pay cut but it beats doing something I can't get excited about and will eventually get pigeon holed into.
