REPE Haven't Received Offer Yet, Got the Call From HR Though

Hi All,

I wrapped up an interview process with a REPE firm in Toronto, which I really like and is a great long term for me. I did the final round 2.5 weeks ago, the Sr Partner did not even have my resume and it was more of a conversation than anything, we literally talked about the Michael Jordan documentary for 15 minutes, he was a great dude along with everyone else who interviewed me.

A week ago I got a call from the head of HR saying the team had very positive feedback, and that a senior would be in touch with me mid week, and hopefully a formal offer by end of week. I didn't hear anything so I sent HR an email yesterday asking if there was an update. I still haven't heard back and it has been 8 days since I last spoke with HR. I was just wondering if I should be concerned or is the firm dealing with administrative stuff regarding a potential offer? Historically communication can be a but interrupted with the firm given how busy they are and how close we are to holiday season.

Thank you.

Hey there,

Sounds like you've had quite the journey with this REPE firm in Toronto! It's great to hear that you had a positive experience during the interview process.

Now, onto your question. It's not uncommon for things to slow down a bit after the final round of interviews, especially if the firm is busy or if we're nearing the holiday season. The fact that you received positive feedback from the head of HR is definitely a good sign.

However, I understand that the waiting game can be nerve-wracking. If you haven't heard back after a week, it's perfectly acceptable to follow up with HR again. Just keep your email polite and professional, expressing your continued interest in the role and asking for any updates on the process.

Remember, patience is key in these situations. It's possible that they're just dealing with some administrative matters regarding your potential offer. So hang in there, and hopefully, you'll hear some good news soon!

Keep me posted, and best of luck!

I would call HR back tomorrow or Thursday. Definitely keep recruiting.

Did they actually give you a real verbal offer or just "they liked you, a senior will be in touch and hopefully we'll have a formal offer?" That isn't a verbal offer. If they did say something more, it could definitely be a paperwork issue (it's surprisingly hard to get formal offer letters approved) but if that is all they said, they could be keeping you warm while they finish interviewing others, or are waiting on an offer from another candidate. Either way, keep recruiting.
