Pros and cons of joining PE family office

Hi all,

Wrapping up 3 years in T2 consulting CDDs and I’m in two PE final rounds - one MM shop, and one LMM family office.

Context on family office:

Founded in 2017, 3 man investment team + 2 partners/seed investors (both had VERY good careers before, so cool mentorship), invest in FS/tech assets, have done 5 LBOs and averaged ~4x MoM. Plan to “maybe” raise a proper $300M is fund in a couple years but no rush.

What are the pros / cons of this career move at age 26? How should I think about this vs a standard buyout shop?

pros: “significant carry” on deal by deal basis (need to confirm exact amount); rapid progress (guy went from assoc to principal in 3 years); amazing mentorship / experience

cons: zero brand, appear to do ~1 deal and a couple bolt ons per year, maybe lower base, career risk?

How would others think about this? What  am I missing?

Thanks
