Partners Group: Healthcare or Infrastructure
I'm an analyst in the rotational program at Partners Group. I am evenly split between wanting to do healthcare PE here or going into the Infrastructure team. I have not worked in either group yet. I'm planning on picking between these two for my next rotation with the aim of permanently joining whatever I choose.
I like Infrastructure a lot but am turned off by the fact that it's not traditional PE and that the asset class's returns are lower than traditional PE. On the other side, I think PG has a better Infra. team than a HC direct investing team.
What am I missing here? How should I be thinking about this?
Thanks!
Which region are you in? Important particularly for healthcare
North America
Don’t do infrastructure if you don’t have an interest (or think you might) in the asset class.
Can you expand on this?
Generally pays less (due to the economics of the asset class) and yet works you more (due to incredibly granular infra modeling) compared to vanilla corporate PE. Or so the general consensus seems to be.
reccomend healthcare team for obvious reasons
not sure why you think their infrastructure team is above average (it isnt)
Go with Healthcare, it will give you more options down the line. Infra is very specific and makes it difficult to switch into a different team down the line.
