I’m going to fau and want to know your thoughts.

I came on here because I wanted to know if you guys think fauu is good for finance. I plan on going into PE. I know how competitive it is now a days in the finance sector so wanted to know if you think I have a good shot at getting a top tier job out of school.

Have no idea about the rigor of the school's finance program. Regarding recruiting, yes possible but will depend on you as the candidate. Need to get good internships etc as a freshman and join the right clubs. If you're referring to a PE analyst position out of school, it will be more difficult because those slots are incredibly hard to get at any school - referring to the Vistas, KKRs, and Blackstones of the world - but if you are referring to getting into an investment banking program and then going to private equity it is very possible. You need to decide if you want to stay in the South or go NYC or West Coast, a lot of variables at play.

Went to U of Miami circa mid 2010s. Back in my days we used to send a dozen of so students to investment banking every year (80% diversity and/or through SEO). I was fortunately one of the few who got in through non-diversity but it’s certainly not easy. Heard there are now better channels for students who are dead set into going into banking through a junior recruiting trip but fairly selective. If you’re set to go to IB in NY you’re probably in much better position picking another school that doesn’t cost $80k a year to attend, while having much lower barrier of entry.

Currently at the U and had similar questions before coming here. Best decision of my life. Join certain clubs like TAMID, Target Canes, Canes Finance, Bermont Carlin program, and get involved on campus. Recently (within the past year or two) many kids have had success with going into finance in NYC - recents include Centerview, JPM, AQR, BAML, Citi, PE, VC, and many interviews with firms like D.E Shaw, Perella Weinberg, Evercore, Blackstone, Barclays, Morgan Stanley, etc etc. We are not a typical target, but opportunities will present themselves just fine if you put in the work. I can PM you if you have questions / want more insight. Congrats btw.
