How to leverage an Internship at a PE Portfolio company to Break into PE?
Hey guys, so here's some background on me: I'm based in the UK and attend a non-target university. This September, I'll be joining an MM firm to work in M&A. My long-term goal is to either join a UMM/MF PE or GE shop.
This summer, before I start my role at the MM firm, I'll be doing a corp dev internship at a PE-backed company. During my interviews, I was told that I would have the opportunity to gain exposure and meet the PE owners. However, this internship is unfortunately remote, and I have never done a remote internship before. So, my questions are as follows:
-
How should I build relationships with the PE owners when I meet them, and how can I do this remotely?
-
How can I best leverage this internship to establish the necessary relationships with the PE team when I meet them?
-
How can I excel in an online internship?
-
Do you have any tips for remote internships?
Any advice or insights would be great! Thanks guys
