Carlyle Europe Partners Fundraising & Outlook for Investment Professionals

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has any updates on the fundraising for Carlyle Europe Partners VI. We know about the strong €3 billion haul for the European Technology Fund, but the $15 billion raise for the flagship fund (against a $22 billion target) and at least 30% cut for the Asian fund haven't been encouraging signals.

The last I saw on Europe Partners VI was a Bloomberg article from early 2022 mentioning a €7.5 billion target and whispers of mid-double teens IRR for the latest European fund, lagging peers at 20%+ IRRs.

Additionally, curious on what the cost-cutting measures and lower fundraisings will mean for compensation package and career progression for associates and directors, especially in the European offices considering the considerable regional headcount distribution vs. more centralized funds.

Appreciate any insights!

If you land it and nothing else obviously take it. If you land anything MM or better then maybe reconsider

Thanks, appreciate the advise. For further context, whereas I have another offer from a large fund, Carlyle's proposal has some non-financial elements (that I prefer not to disclose) that make me consider it. To better understand their current standing (and how bad the situation is in there, acknowledging that it is not great), I'd be grateful for any information on their fundraising progress for their latest European fund. Any indication of their progress since having reached €1B, €3B, or €5B (out of €7.5B) at this stage would be incredibly valuable.

OP mind sharing what comp your offers are at? And I'm assuming they are ASO 1 roles?
