Canada Pension Funds - Comp Trajectory
Curious about what the compensation trajectory is like at top Canadian pensions (CPP/OTPP).
I'm aware that analyst comp is going to be somewhere between 140-160k, but I'm more curious about how much associates and principals make. Any direct data points anyone has, or any sort of ranges people can speak to? Specifically asking about the Toronto office.
Will depend on team/division and from what I’ve heard/seen CPP will be higher than OTPP but few data points on the comparison.
For principal I’ve seen ~$450-650k all in (yes wide range).
CAD or USD?
I was quoting USD, these are from a few years ago.
Well is this for the Toronto offices? As far as I know, CPP/OTPP associate comp is like CAD 200-250k, so definitely seems like a nice bump up.
i'm guessing this is cash and there will be additional carry on top of that?
As far as I know, there is no carry at these funds. But my information is limited on the PE side. These are pension funds after all, they are trying to maximize returns for the public, I know on the HF side there was no “pay % of PnL/fees” type deals.
$450 - $650 USD seems high for pensions
Well MD is ~$800k-1.2mm (some higher) at these pension funds. Remember these aren’t small asset allocators, these are some of the largest pensions (well, asset managers) and have to hire top investing talent.
