Re-write a 730 GMAT (47, 44, 8, 6) as I need the best schools to allow me to pivot into finance given no prior experience?
My GPA is 3.74/4 from a no-name Canadian university
My experience is building REPE essentially managing ~$6Mn in assets, I also manage my PA and have achieved substantial returns investing in stocks and real estate. However, no reputable finance experience.
I'm not trolling to piss people off. I just know that 730 is legitimately below average for CBS, Stanford, Harvard, and Wharton, and I figure that the average for ORM and white guys is probably a bit higher than that with URM bringing the average down.
Should I re-write? I personally feel that with more studying I can nail the math concepts I got wrong, maintain my verbal, and get a higher score. I don't want to jinx myself, but I know for a fact I could improve at math. I wrote and studied the test while backpacking so I can be more focused now that I'm at home (I also wrote with COVID and had it for 2 weeks before I wrote).
For the record, I applied to Stanford and CBS in R3 and didn't get interview invites. Got dinged from Haas post-interview and am waiting on Chicago results. Will these stats give me an easier shot in R1 next year? I thought later rounds made it more difficult if your experience was more standard, not due to your stats.
if you think you can do better honestly go for it. every 10 points matters now adays. but its not like a requirement for you to apply with good results. for most people a 730 is not the reason they get dinged from an MBA. did you get a consultant to help wiht your stories and esssays?
I did not but if Chicago does not work out this year then I will for next year's intake.
i think you will get in by working on your story and not your gmat. but liek i said. get every 10 points you can. its a big scholarship lever
A 730 is not below average for the schools you mentioned. Class profiles can be found on their website.
