A lot of students and outside agitators are staging an Occupy Wall Street sit in of sorts, demanding that Columbia remove all financial ties to Israel.

Said students are following a rather disturbing trend of going full on anti-Semitic instead of being anti-Israel or anti-Netanyahu and pro-Hamas as opposed to being pro-Palestinian civilians.

University Presidents, including Columbia's, seem completely ineffective at doing much of anything. When both AOC and Mike Johnson are beyond frustrated with you, you know you fucked up.

For anyone passing by, it’s not true that students are going full-on anti-Semitic. I haven’t met a single student who is supportive of Hamas/their actions. The news has grossly distorted the message of a bunch of college kids sitting around on lawns (where a Shabbat dinner was held last weekend, btw). Uninformed comments like the ones above pour gasoline on the situation.

I've seen many many "pro-Palestine" supporters that refuse to condemn Hamas. Why is it so hard to condemn Hamas? Yes, they are the Palestinians only military force, but they also decapacitate babies. Please tell me how attacking a bunch of innocent civilians at a concert is the way to gain global support and get your land back.

Israel is horrible as well. Instead of intentionally killing babies they unintentionally kill them at a much grander scale.

Both sides are horrible.

“Zionists don’t deserve to live” got one of the protest leaders banned from Columbia. Totally not anti-Semitic though…

"Said students are following a rather disturbing trend of going full on anti-Semitic instead of being anti-Israel or anti-Netanyahu and pro-Hamas as opposed to being pro-Palestinian civilians" - anecdotal claims, I doubt this is widespread. As someone who grew up in the NYC area, even mentioning you're pro-Palestinian puts you at risk immediately to be called anti-semetic / anti-Israel. I've seen this first hand. It's a lot of he said / she said rumors.

Even saying "from the river to the sea Palestine will be free" gets you labeled anti-Semitic. And why is that? Because "from the river to the sea" means the Jews are either murdered or deported by force.

Regardless of the degree of anti-semitism (it appears high from what's posted on social media, but not to digress) why should these students be allowed to be this disruptive to the ongoing function of the school?  Taking over a common area that students typically enjoy on their break, making noise, blocking pathways to buildings, and now taking over a building according to recent reports.

Why is that ever OK?  Some people's parents actually worked their asses off to save the money for their kids to go to a place like Columbia.  To speak nothing of the hard work the students put in to get in there and learn there.  Why is anyone OK with that experience being ruined by a bunch of privileged drama queens?

The ones yelling at individual students, blocking pathways or doing any other physical/intimidation type shit should be expelled immediately if not arrested.

Yeah, let's stengthen our ties with Saudi and Qatar since they're so peaceful and innocent. Sharia Law is the way forward in this world

I have absolutely no idea how this is supposed to be a response to what I said

They're not necessarily pro-Hamas. They just hate White people and wish they knew who their dad was. Israel is just another pretext.

I am wondering if all the rich Jewish donors in New York are coming to the realization that they aren't getting the carve-out exemption that they were hoping for when it comes to anti-White hatred and may start rethinking the coddling they gave these radicals in recent years.

If the protesters really cared about Hamas or Palestine, they could just fly over there if they really insist on fighting over the one patch of the Middle East that doesn't have any oil. This isn't about Palestine or Israel or whatever. It's about they are just hateful people, and ultimately hate themselves too.

Neither Israel nor Hamas have any high ground at this point. One organization murdered over 1k innocent concert goers and the other killed probably 1-2k Hamas fighters (deservedly) and 30k innocent Palestinians. It’s a crapshoot

only good thing is that this hurts Biden

Huh? Israel has destroyed nearly the entire Hamas army. 10-20,000 Hamas fighters. That doesn't even include "civilians" who were actively helping Hamas.

Learn what insurgent math is. If you actually believe those numbers I have a bridge in Queens to sell you.

As far as the civilian deaths, Hamas and for that matter plenty of terror groups including the Taliban had a MO of hiding among civilian populations thinking that western militaries wouldn't hit them. Israel changed the game by hitting them anyway. I think we may see less of the human shield strategy going forward, because eventually you run into a force that just doesn't care.

My comment is observational and not an endorsement of a faction - as I alluded to from my other posts, I'd rather the US not have to deal with this, but if the Columbia nerds want to fly over there, they're welcome to do so. I'm not stopping them. At least they'd be putting their money where their mouth is instead of throwing a tantrum at Columbia.

Hope you're right that it hurts Biden.  Sadly our base of common-sense voters has a very short memory.  All of the excessively heavy-handed Covid stuff . . especially school shutdowns but also overbearing rules on masks and vaccines . . was supposed to hand the midterms to the GOP.  "Bloodbath" was used often leading up to the midterms.  And similar feelings entering the few '23 races.  Neither worked out.  Fingers crossed this time around.
