Southern Methodist University (SMU) v. Lehigh University

Hey all,

Looking for any insight/anecdotes/personal experience into undergrad experience/ opportunities after graduation from these two schools. SMU would obliviously be more fun (Dallas, weather, chicks, etc.).

Any insight would be helpful

Thanks

I would go with Lehigh. I know they place pretty well in NY whereas SMU places a lot in Houston/Dallas. Does money matter? If so, I would just go to wherever is cheaper.

Lehigh would be 45k yr, SMU hasn't released aid yet, but if opportunities are similar (placement dependent on location) I will probably go with the cheaper option

I went to Lehigh, it was a blast.  Good alumni presence across finance, most kids (and their often well-connected families) there are from PA/NJ/NY/CT/MA so opportunities tend to skew to the northeast.  No clue what recruiting looks like these days.  Also have a group there called the Wall Street Council that hosts networking events and an annual session on campus that a good amount of alumni come back for.  The finance department is named after Joe Perella. SMU as you noted will have the better weather/girls hands down and has a huge network in the south. You're probably in a good spot regardless of your choice.  Good luck!

Citi recruits on campus at Lehigh but thats pretty much it. And yea the SMU girls r insane—quite the inverse of Lehigh girls
