Must do/see's in the world while in early 20s
Have a few months to travel before analyst stint begins this summer. Mainly looking into Europe and some middle east.
What are the places you must see while still young and won't be the same when older? Specific cities preferably
Italy, Spain, Greece
the legend himself! Any cities in particular?
Spain: Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Ibiza
Italy: Cinque Terre, Pisa, Florence, Rome, Milan, Venice
After I went to Italy, I took a cruise ship for cheap from Brindisi to Corfu, Greece.
Definitely recommend the Pink Palace in Greece:

I rented a 4 wheeler at the Pink Palace and rode all around the island - was a blast. They have a club there which gets pretty amped up.
Italy, Croatia, Germany, Portugal
Any cities in particular or must do's in each place?
For Portugal, Porto was incredible, Sintra was cool, Lisbon was meh, Lagos was a fun party town.
Croatia, we stayed on the coast (Zadar) but everything was awesome.
Italy, we were Rome focused but had a great time.
Germany, I feel like Cologne is an underrated city.
In all honesty, I feel like it's important to just go places and try stuff. Amsterdam was cool, less for the weed and hookers, but they have a pretty legit cocktail scene.
In Europe:
In Middle East:
appreciate the detailed response!
Yeah Egypt is cool. Go see the pyramids at Giza. Most people see them on Camels, but I recommend renting a horse, it’s much more fun.
Also, you can see the burning bush and Mt. Sinai. It’s a little out of the way, but the thing to do is hike to the top of Mt. Sinai in the middle of the night. They had the brightest stars I’ve ever seen there - truly unforgettable. Then you sit at the top of the mountain and watch the sun rise - amazing.
I went scuba diving in Egypt in the Red Sea as well. Incredible! Check out Sharm El Sheik and Dahab. I had some crazy strong hookah before scuba diving and was still buzzing underwater lol.
what's so nice about London? Thinking about visiting over the summer (near late August so around the time when the PL begins)
Nothing in particular. If you've spent extended amounts of time in NYC/Chicago, or places like Paris/Milan then it isn't that special. That being said, London has so much going for it. Nightlife, culture, food, history, parks, palaces, some of the nicest neighbourhoods/houses on the planet (which are worth just walking around), football (soccer for the yanks), cool tall buildings, the glitz and glamour, and above all else the PEOPLE.London is one of, if not THE most diverse city in the world. It has this vibe about it that I've not seen anywhere else apart from NYC - and please take my word for it, I have travelled all over the globe.
Only real downside to London is the prices. It's fucking expensive, no two ways about, but worth every penny in my opinion.
Excellent suggestions
A lot of the above are great, but do things you won't want to do once you're older and start having kids - like partying in Ibiza or hitting 5-story Berlin nightclubs until 4am.
100p
Yep. You will always be able to travel, and when you are older you can travel in style. But it's different with wife or with wife and kids.
When young stay at hostels, fuck hot random broads, go out to bars/clubs/etc
How do you hook up when you’re in a hostel though?
Honestly getting married and having kids sounds sad.
Well just remove yourself from the genetic pool then you fucking loser
I second Ibiza. I'm from Spain but live in California now. I used to go to Ibiza 2 or 3 times per summer when I lived in Madrid.
Go from Friday to Tuesday. Party during the night and beach during the day.
Friday - Amnesia
Sunday - Pachá
Monday - Circoloco at DC-10
You will be a new man after that.
you the man for the recs, thank you!
Where are you from in Spain?
yo thanks for that
Check out Hvar, Croatia. They call is the Ibiza of the Mediterranean. I haven't been to Ibiza myself but I guarantee you that you will have a blast in Hvar party wise. Places like Carpe Diem, Hula Hula, and Kiva Bar were great. Besides the nightlife, the island has some neat beaches. Croatia is in general a very pretty place to visit and a bit cheaper than Spain, Italy, or Greece.
If you visit Amsterdam, make sure that you visit a festival. We have a pretty decent rave scene.
I would also recommend Sri Lanka and South East Asia. Spend there in total 6 months and the backpack lifestyle is unreal over there.
Whoever calls Hvar the Ibiza of the Mediterranean doesn't know that Ibiza is already in the Mediterranean
And that Hvar isn't even on the coast of the Mediterranean - it's the Adriatic Sea I'm pretty sure...
Saying this from my pre-covid experience in 2017, but absolutely going nuts in HK's Lan Kwai Fong area. Literally just a zigzag mountain road with endless bars/clubs with open walls facing the street and basically everyone raging on the streets. Idk what the situation is now post-China "re-taking" HK, covid excluded, but man everyone should experience that once in their 20s. As someone in my late 20s I'd not do it again but as a guy who was ripe for partying as hard as I could, that was surreal. I probably shaved off a couple years of my life from the week I spent there going every night but boy was it worth it.
Ik this isn't Europe or the Middle East but Southeast Asia is awesome and I highly recommend Laos/Cambodia/Thailand.
Great for backpacking and meeting young people. All global but there’s lotsss of Australians, which I love because they’re fucking awesome!
Highly recommend Lebanon. Beautiful country with the Mediterranean sea and the mountains, and lots of culture and history if you like that
It's a third-world shithole these days, the situation went downhill very fast
I was there in November, and sure, the people are struggling, but it's far from a shithole
Don’t forget the nightlife. Sure, Beirut’s gone downhill, and the explosion only augmented the spiral, but the culture hasn’t/won’t die.
Aside from the obvious European choices, I feel that Southern Germany / Austria and Ireland / Northern Ireland are underrated.
+1 to Ireland. Super fun to visit. Very feasible to pull off a trip there on a long weekend since it's like a 6 hour flight from NYC. Besides all the drinking culture that permeates throughout Ireland, country side is beautiful and Dublin is a really fun walkable city. Barely touched alcohol there and had a lot of fun. Less expensive vs. most other European trips I've taken.
That's on the bucket list for sure!
Any recs on the following for the time being: Rome, Barcelona, and Ibiza
