Neeed advice - I do not think i can go on
Essentially I am stuck. I am currently working in a decent sized outfit in a real estate investment team however I hate it and find it incredibly boring because since rates jumped we've not really done anything ( almost an entire year now) and I feel as if my career has just stopped aside from earning a steady paycheck. I feel angry and like a huge failure because I worked so hard to get where I am.
The whole experience has 1. put me off my current company as it feels like a shit show 2. put me off real estate as it feels too simplistic
WHAT SHOULD I DO ?
Really? You're collecting a check to do nothing. Go on vacation.

Feeling stuck and disillusioned in your career, especially after putting in significant effort to reach your current position, is a challenging situation. Based on insights from the WSO forums, here are some steps you can consider to navigate through this phase:
Reflect on Your Career Goals: Sometimes, the dissatisfaction stems from a misalignment between your job and your career aspirations. Take some time to reflect on what you truly want from your career. Is it the excitement of closing deals, the analytical aspect of real estate, or something entirely different?
Seek Mentorship: Engage with mentors or senior colleagues within or outside your current company. They can offer valuable perspectives on your situation, suggest possible paths you haven't considered, and provide insights into overcoming periods of stagnation.
Upskill and Diversify: Use this period to enhance your skills. Whether it's financial modeling, market analysis, or learning about new real estate sectors, improving your skill set can make you more marketable and open up new opportunities. Consider certifications or courses that could broaden your expertise and appeal.
Network Actively: Networking is crucial in the real estate industry. Connect with professionals from different areas of real estate or even other industries that interest you. These connections can offer insights into other career paths and potentially lead to new opportunities.
Consider a Lateral Move: If your current role or company isn't providing the growth or challenges you seek, a lateral move to another firm or a different area within real estate might reignite your passion. Sometimes, a change of environment is all it takes to see your career from a new perspective.
Explore Parallel Industries: If real estate no longer excites you, consider industries that value similar skill sets, such as finance, asset management, or corporate development. Your experience in real estate investment could be a valuable asset in these fields.
Take a Structured Approach to Job Searching: If you decide to look for new opportunities, approach your job search methodically. Update your resume, tailor your cover letter to highlight how your skills transfer to other roles or industries, and prepare thoroughly for interviews.
Remember, feeling stuck is often a sign that it's time for growth or change. Use this period to reassess and realign your career path with your personal goals and values. It's also important to remember that career paths are rarely linear, and setbacks can lead to greater opportunities if navigated wisely.
