Is it a good idea to join a startup as an intern?
Looking for thoughts from everyone here. Have an offer to join a startup in Germany in their strategy team as an intern (3-6 months). Currently based in London and am looking to pivot to IB/MBB from an AM research role, currently studying an MSc Finance from a non/semi target (depends who you ask). It’s essentially a tech start up which provides portfolio tracking for retail investors (like Delta Investment Tracker for example . Is this a good offer or is it a bad idea to go for this? Should I keep recruiting or take what I can get and then try pivot later on.
This is just my view as a random guy on the internet with VERY limited information, but I think it is a bad idea.
1) This isn't a natural stepping stone to IB
2) This is an insecure role which might leave you jobless in 3 - 6 months
3) It is generally better to have a relatively clean CV than a messy one
4) London is a better market for recruiting in IBD than Germany
Thank you appreciate the response!
