RE: Cold Emailing (as a 1st Year) - How to be successful?

Hey - I'm interested in securing some summer insights (post-spring week cycle next year) and wanted to know how to best prepare to cold-email IB firms.

I want to get the following out of this :

1) How to find BBs in London, to email in the first place.

2) Finding a successful technique/method to even begin emailing/making a network/contacts etc.

looking to understand people's opinions, & tried out methods on how to cold-email to effectively land 1st year summer insights (and eventually try keep in touch with them for Summer analyst roles etc.).

I'm entering uni 2024 so I will be just looking to prep in advance / further reading prior to actually trying.

Thank you for that.

Cold emailing won't help much in UK, especially for springs. All you can do is apply as early as possible and do well on the sjts and hirevues. Going to a good uni helps as well in terms of networking and learning more about the process. Good luck

How about cold emailing for summer insight roles (& onwards)?

I was referring to this in the post, my apologies for not making it clear.

Summers in your first year yes u will have to cold email to find some. But apart from that the UK process isn't that similar to the US one where they have OCR and networking plays a huge part. You will just have to apply online and hope for the best. But do attend networking sessions at uni as someone from there might even be your interviewer. Good luck to you :)
