Career Resources
Hey Associate 1 in RE - Comm, I'm here because nobody responded to this thread after a few days...maybe one of these resources will help you:
More suggestions...
If those topics were completely useless, don't blame me, blame my programmers...
Amazing when it comes to deal flow but absolutely brutal culture from what I have heard
Rooftop happy hours on Friday that no one except HR can find time to attend
Brutal hours and toxic culture
Do you mind elaborating on hours? Is it industry/group relative?
I think the majority are generalists except TMT, FIG and Sponsors. Hours are tough across the board but they might indeed improve at the Aso / VP level.
The most blatantly sexist interview I’ve encountered. I expect a certain amount of low-level b.s., but this was off the charts. Weren’t even trying to hide it.
Remember “The Anchorman”? It was like they were trying to riff on Ron Burgundy, except without the comedic talent or timing.
They didn’t actually call me Tits McGee, but there was a lot of “I like you but I don’t know how I’d feel about working for a woman”, etc.
Sounds scary even if I’m a men… look like they have mentality from another age
If you’re familiar with the Paris banking environment, would you still describe it as a good house to be a career banker?
Well, based on my experience, it’s a bad place for female bankers to build their careers.
If that’s not you, you should be fine. They seem to have a few rainmakers who bring in deals based on personal relationships, so the work is more execution and less pitch-based. There’s a bit of “key man risk”, as one of their honchos got poached by Centerview a few years back, and Evercore is I think opening a Paris office (and might be on the hunt).
My real question is why you’re asking in the first place. What’s giving you doubts? Is it just that randos on the Internet are signaling a toxic (even by Wall Street standards), potentially discriminatory work environment?
Any info the recently developed real estate team? Curious if the culture and hours differ from the rest of the office
TMT? Brutal but you'll be in the top 5 team in the country.
Hey, what about generalist or real estate team? Do you know if they are recognized as well to got brutal hours/toxic culture?
I wouldn't say it's toxic.
Lazare is an institution in France, so they'll put very high standards in everything they do. I think generalist and RE team are less brutal in term of hours and the hours problem is more for the interns/analyst
Hi, know an associate there, the hours are long and the culture is hard but working there is not that hard culturwise. The exits are excellent and I Lazard is one of the most elite boutiques in Paris right know. The reputation is perfect and the comp is very good, one of the highest in Paris. The VP and all the seniors are top notch.
I know that there is a lot of girls there and know some of them and never heard about stories like that but it can be possible.
PM me if you want more specific informations.
Hi, many thanks for taking the time to answer! Will probably message you later. Would you mind sharing maybe insight on their different teams, as I saw they recently set up a Real Estate one?
Also, I understand that they are top notch and well regarded for exits, what about staying there to be a career banker?
