JPM IBD Internal Mobility

Curious if anyone is familiar with JPM IBD's internal mobillity (moving from Capital Markets teams such as ECM/DCM to M&A and coverage). Speaking for the NYC office specifically. Would appreicate any thoughts. Thanks!

From my experience (not as an employee, but through buddies), JPM is oddly anti-internal mobility. They like to silo their different divisions (IBD vs S&T, for example) and get protective of their info/people.

Lateraling is likely easier

Idk if this is relevant but i was an intern in commercial banking (mmbsi) this summer and networked a bunch and lateraled for my full time offer to be in capital markets. I have heard anecdotally from people that internal mobility is decently strong

I transferred from S&T to IBD at JPM (not NYC). pick a team that you like, find the staffer, and tell them you want to work for them. if you make a good impression/persuade, they’ll remember you next time an opportunity opens up

Can I dm you? Have JPM S&T SA next summer, and really wanna convert to IB Coverage

Goldman, and Barclays all have 2 year programs where it's relatively easy to transfer to a coverage group after 2 years. CS was also famed for strong internal mobility but well they don't exist anymore. Not sure about the other BBs, but hope that was helpful.
