Heard pay is actually pretty good it’s just a terrible place to work.

What does sweaty mean? And what's the pay? Everyone tell me that it's been pretty garbage pay.

Sweaty generally means that it’s an over worked toxic group, I think it comes from the term sweatshop. So most people say sweaty to mean shitty lol

Former Jefferies employee - they used to be known for paying slightly above street (between BB average and EB pay) but since 2022 they've been paying in line with BB street if not below due to splashing the cash on guaranteed comp for lateral seniors. Culture varies significantly by group - Jefferies really has no unified culture due to high they have grown their franchise inorganically. Hours can get really sweaty in some groups, and other groups are relatively chill.

Ex Jeff in PE. Pay been ass last 2 years. Correct there is no culture, bullpen is fun though. Extremely variable by team let alone group. Jefferies doesn’t have clients, their MDs do, making them extremely sharp elbowed and territorial. Every MD runs their own business. This is true at every bank but ESPECIALLY true at jefferies. Pay will not improve for juniors / mid levels until the market turns around. Too much guaranteed comp for new MDs from BBs. Hours generally ass, but not as bad as hyped up on this forum IMO. Heavily group and team dependent.

What does bad hour mean? Also, is there a lot of execution or still a lot of pitching? What does pay at the aso level historically look like?

Pretty sweaty.

Pay (bonuses) has been pretty low last 1-2 years as they are aggresively expanding (i.e. poached a ton of the Barclays guys in Toronto when Barclays closed down their Toronto office).

Pretty good industrials team I believe, can't speak on anything else
