Econ at Umich or possibility of McCombs?
Hello, I am a senior in high school that was accepted into both Umich and UT Austin, but not their business schools. I want to go into investment banking, so I would try to join all the clubs at Ross and pursue a minor there. For Texas, I would try to transfer to the business school, which probably will be successful because I am coming in with 30 credits, so I don't have to take the weed-out courses. I am also from New York, so I would like to live here post-grad. Overall I'm 50-50, but I like the feel of Umich more. I know I will be competing with the Ross kids, but because I live in New York I can get a reference for a few BBs.
Oh, also forgot to say I got into Wake Forest, so I could do finance there too.
Michigan by a mile. It’s more prestigious, and is known as one of the top non-Ivy target schools. UT-Austin only places because of its massive size (larger than Michigan by about 10,000 students), and even then, just because of all the intense competition inside McCombs. I’d major in Economics or something else quantitative if you’re dead set on finance and join relevant clubs/potentially transfer into Ross. From an opportunity standpoint, you can’t go wrong by going to Michigan.
