2020 Bonus Szn
Well kings and queens, how well did we make out with our bonuses this year (less not being fired)? Title and Bonus % of Base would be appreciated.

AS1. $150 / $175k.
That a way to get paid!
EB I presume?
MM
85$ / 100
I think it might be more helpful to add what type of bank you're at as well (BB, EB, MM, etc.).
AN2: $90 / $150
wut
Guessing means all in
cvp?
Has to be
Couldn't be bc centerview pays first year analysts 95k base and he said he got 90k base as a second year. By that logic it can't be evercore, pjt or really any of the other EBs that start their first year analysts at 90k+ base. Not really sure who it could be?
This is pretty normal. 2nd-year analysts in a UBS group I know get paid $92K base and $58K bonus to get to $150K all-in.
Yeah lmao but this man got a 150k bonus to put him at 240k all in -- see his comment below. Something Something UBS joke.
Is this top/middle/bottom bucket?

How much of this do you keep post-tax?
That's a fantastic question and something that is very often ignored here. I work at a BB but in BO and my bonus is great but still small compared to some numbers here. However, my base is higher and salary is always taxed less than bonus. In addition, I am outside of the tri-state area so my tax situation is pretty favorable. I see about 70% of my bonus (rough numbers), I'm guessing that for most of these tri-state folks, they see about 60-65% of their bonus??? Maybe less?
EDIT: I should add that I usually just auto-dump my bonus into my 401k every year and that helps the overall tax picture, even if it's just a little bit.
What does AN mean? 2 is the number of years right?
AN = Analyst (usually out of undergrad)
ASO = Associate (MBA or direct promote from Analyst)
Right on the number = number of years in that position
Where?
150K total including bonus right? Or am I missing something here?
$240 all in* was a great year for the firm and known for paying well above street
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of firm is it? BB / EB / MM / Mini Boutique? Or are you just in a product group like Rx that had a great year? 240 all in as a second year analyst is crazy -- congrats!
Thanks! Yes - this is CVP. To answer the above thread, CVP pays a lower base (esp. at higher levels) relative to other EBs but bonuses are multiples above base and it all works out to significantly more all-in total compensation than any other bank (and PE firms for that matter)
If you share the firm name I'll make 20 burner accounts and SB you
Haha, see above this is CVP. SB Away!
If you don't mind sharing, does AN2 mean end of year 1.5 or end of year 2.5?
1.5 years in
If ubs doesn't pay street bonuses this year I'm going to walk away immediately. Been getting slammed with deal flow all year.
My friend there said it’s been pretty dead just a ton of pitching. What’s a typical bonus for 2nd years there? WSO says 70k which seems like the top end of BBs
What are you expecting as your Street value?
Serious question, but does anyone have any idea for 2nd year IB at DB? My team had had solid deals throughout 2020, and I know everyone rips on DB for paying less, but I am trying to get an idea of what to expect.
Whatever you would consider low, minus about 15%. Mid-bucket Associate 2's got like $50k last year.
That’s awful
if BB street bonuses are about 40-65 bonus for 1st years, how much of an increase do 2nd year analysts typically expect to see on that?
BB bonuses for first years are more like 45-80
second year analyst at a mid tier bb and our bonuses were 35-65 last year
....
who pays a base of 75k to a 3rd year....?
....
Congrats on the promotion!
Nice one. Are you at DB ?
....
Can someone from DB please share some info from your comp? Curious about the firm

Any info from Barclays coverage groups?
No idea but id expect them to be pretty good. Barcap had a strong year.
Associates are next week, analysts aren't until June.
Any idea on GS Levfin?
to much to count
Have stubs been communicated?
What about stubs? Was told around 25-30 by second years with no ranking but not sure if this is in line with street
25 is the standard for stub for BB's i believe
Thank you, I heard it might be more for us since a few of the first years already left... let’s hope!
Confirm $25k stub, Small boutique.
Serious question - As an analyst, do BBs typically disclose to you expected bonus amount on your offer letter? Or is this something you come to learn when you have your bonus/eoy performance review meeting?
the latter
It can be both. They can give you a range but no promises to be within that range or they will mention it as part of your sign-on bonus, as in, the sign-on bonus may or may not reflect the range of your performance bonus. It just depends on the BB and how they handle it.
Any idea on which BBs do this?
I think some HFs will give you a minimum bonus number for year 1 but BBs won’t. It’s generally standard tho since you don’t have revenue next to your name, just rank and how people view you
That makes a lot of sense - thanks
Associate, 150% of base.
I rated top bucket and got promoted.
Industry specialist.
.
Dude, chill..
Anyone know how bonuses work for regional offices on the west coast?
Yeah, I heard it’s way different. They draw names and numbers out of a hat.
It’s not different, most groups will group you with the NY office (ex. GS TMT SF grouped with GS TMT NY)
1st Year Analyst: $90k base / $80k bonus
EB? or BB?
Def sounds like an EB
MM Canadian bank in NYC
Anyone know bonuses for Perella Weinberg? Are they tiered ?
Zero?
Zero? Damn that sucks
Any real numbers here?
sheesh bag szn, good work boys
AN2 (BB): $90k base / $75k bonus
top bucket?
My group doesn’t disclose rankings, but my MD implied that I was in the top 25% of my class.
im assuming this is top bucket
Any info on JPM/MS/GS coverage groups for 1st yr analyst?
Wow this has been one of the longest threads with the least amount of useful information since the last ranking thread. Good job everyone
A lot of bonuses haven’t been announced yet so it’s just people looking for info lmao
+1 SB
Give it another 2-3 weeks or so and this thread will really get rolling. I'm at a BB and numbers don't come out until about 1/15, so many of us are still waiting.
Hence why I'm jealous of PJT - still have legacy Bx practice of giving numbers and paying out in December for associates and up.
The worst is all the idiots trying to figure out what firm it is when someone posts their comp.
Well-known NYC bank 1st yr associate Base: 150k Bonus: 150k
Well done. BB/EB/MM?
JEF - whatever bucket that fits into nowadays
All cash? Is any portion of it deferred?
Jefferies pays all-cash bonuses.
AN2: 90 Base / 70 Bonus. Less than our buddy above at CVP but I am definitely happy.
A1 @ BB in Australia: A$125k base / A$21k bonus*
*Bonus was a stub for Feb to June and is unranked (all A1 get the same). Bonus is paid in July for A1-3. A2 bonuses (full year to June) were A$80-100k.
Would appreciate any thoughts on how this compares both internationally and domestically.
So your all-in comp for AN1 including the stub will be 200k+ AUD?
Which bank if you don’t mind me asking?
Won’t disclose that mate
No - $125k base + $21k bonus for A1
As0 - 65k Stub.
From conversations, As1 was ~200 cash + 20-30 in stock.
Wow..high ASO1. EB?
Evercore?
Has to be EB if that’s just the average
Matches what I’ve heard on PJT fwiw
Has to be EB with that stub
BBs are ~40k stub for As0 correct?
AN2: 95k base + 115k bonus = $220k
Man, I guess investment banking really doesn't require much math skills...
Haha you are correct. Guess it was $210k
lololol
I guess Investment Banking doesn't require many grammar skills either...
Incredible - EB? Or MM?
reading some of these bonus #'s....
Username checks out
Yea, gtfo a few banks are hiring Rn
Unless this is a stub and/or you're in the least expensive city in the U.S., yes. You should at least be at ~$120k.
