Point72 Modeling Test/1st Stage Interview

Received the opportunity to take Point72’s intro model test and cognitive assessment as well as a follow on call the week after with some of the analysts. Does anyone have any insight/recommendations on how to prepare for both items? They say it’s a 3 statement model and a wonderlic style test and I assume for the zoom call I will need a stock pitch both long/short. Any advice is appreciated! As of now I have 4 days to prep for the model and about 9 for the first intro call. Thank you!

Hit the nail on the head to be honest. Have pitches ready and strong motivations for L/S.

Thanks boss. Yeah I just did the Model/Wonderlic yesterday, went well. Let's see if they reach back out but after about a week, will assume they've gone in another direction.

Background is Banking + PE (VP2).

I would be shocked if you do not get a look with IB & PE on your resume

Thank you bro/sis yes got advanced.

I do admit im a little senior and I am thankful for my current role, have carry too.

Best of luck to everyone and hope you get the offer. Also, this role had openings listed for like 4 locations. They seem to be on cycle or something.

Guys I just messaged some of you. Sorry I'm not always on this thing, between LinkedIn, Hinge, and Experian, I don't have much time (little joke there)

Ok when the BD person starts asking you good signs of questions near the end (when is your bonus, when can you start, etc.) the last question is about what vertical you prefer covering.........

SAY I CAN DO ANYTHING

They'll contact the whole PM pool then. Whoever is hiring. They dont want to bother a software PM if you straight up say "Prob industrials and consumer is best". The women/men are so busy with work and only are bothered by BD if they know a candidate has no pre-existing biases

Unless you straight up wouldn't go to work there under a certain coverage criteria but....everything can be learned. Maybe FIG or energy is a learning curve, but they dont even cover the first and the second is so manageable. For example my banking career was around two niche industries and I just had to become an expert and that was not tough.

We're setting up PM convo in a few days.

Also BD person definitely asked some WEIRD stuff. Weird as in why tf would I know that/is this really necessary. I still was able to reply but not stuff I prepared for. Let me know how you guys/girls felt.
