Allocator to pod possible?

I am a senior in ug who will be going to an analyst gig at a large allocator. No co-investing, just allocating to managers in a given asset class (endowment style). I would like to work at a pod on the direct side. Is this possible without MBA? I have seen some previous analysts from my program pivot to SS ER, but none directly to pods (or direct L/S). Can this be done through self-learning & networking?

Haven't seen it, and would be surprised. Do you learn how to model being an allocator?

Moving into ER and then L/S is probably the move.

While it may be possible from allocator to HF, you have a very good shot going through SS ER. I have previous experience at an allocator and had no problems getting looks from SS ER. I got a few initial looks from buyside but nothing more and I think that was mostly due to my networking and sending a pitch where my thesis ending up playing out.
