Fashion Advice for incoming analyst

Few quick fashion questions as I'm starting a position soon.

Is the go-to office attire for first-day suit and tie? For research specifically, after how long is it acceptable to ditch the suit jacket? Also, is it too douchey for a first-year to wear vests (not Patagonia) Thanks!

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
