Dress Code - Post Pandemic

I work in a middle-market growth equity shop. Mostly tech focused. Pre pandemic our MD was really adamant about how we dressed. Slacks, tucked-in button up, dress shoes.

My background always taught me to dress one level nicer than your client, but wearing slacks and a tucked in dress shirt around tech CEOs who are wearing t-shirts and flip-flops always felt a bit disconnected.

During COVID, when most calls were done virtually - all those rules went out the window.

Now that we are back in the office, things seem to have settled back to the way they were before.

I'd like to propose something new - ideally to include untucking shirts, polo shirts, hybrid sneakers, jeans, etc - with the guiding principal that you should never be dressed worse than the people you are meeting with.

Wondering what other firms are doing post-covid. Would especially love it if someone could send me the language from their actual employee handbook.
