Quitting - Do you let your bank know where you’re going

Assoc in sell-side ER. Have recently signed with a HF which both my current firm and my team (i.e. Sr Analyst) have relationships with. Wondering whether to disclose where I’m going when I hand in notice or not.

when other associates have jumped at my shop, I feel like either word gets out, or they’ve just been upfront that they’re going buyside and the seniors are in the know - although this flies in the face of the conventional don’t tell your co-workers advice.

any tips? Thoughts? I generally have a v good relationship with my Sr Analyst, we get along very well and are very candid/friendly due to shared interests outside of work as well (sports/athletics). I could probably rely on him for a reference in future and we also have a good personal relationship as well as professional.

I guess the only thing I’m worried about is the whole pulling strings behind the scenes or bad mouthing me if they ask for a reference if he becomes salty about me leaving. You never know in this industry….
