Path/Break into Research Analyst
Hello, Im trying to figure out the best path/ if it is possible for me to break into Equity Research
Background:
Recent grad from a target/top public school from the south.
GPA: ~3.5
Major: economics with minor in finance
WE: Top Wealth management firm internship that I was able to use to gain some internship experience in M&A after they were acquired and the head VP of M&A of took a liking to me and saw potential in me. (VP background consisted of GS Analyst ->GS Associate-> at the time current role)
Projects/Competitions: Top 10 finish in a national investment/trading competition hosted by a target school.
I am decent to good at most of the modeling that would be involved in a ER role and am currently learning and researching companies and creating a research report/ stock pitch if I can land an interview. I know that networking is probably going to be my top suggestion, but should I try to land a role in an industry that I would live to eventually do research in? Should I look at DEI options/opportunities if thats available?
Thanks!
