MM vs. Boutique?
I know with ER as an entry level associate, it's pretty important to get in with a well known analyst. But I'm in a position where I have two options:
1) Work under four analysts, one of which is fairly well known (in an open structure - multiple associates shared by multiple analysts). Comp is below average, at a known MM.
2) Work directly for a fairly new analyst (couple years experience) at a local boutique. More money than (1). Interestingly, several of the people at this boutique started at the MM in (1).
What would you suggest? I have an offer at the first, and an interview with the second tomorrow. Ultimately I'll probably aim to get on the buy side, and these are both for O&G E&P.
you have 1 offer. get a second before you decide.
