From REPE to S&O?
Hey guys,
Switching over from my usual playground at the RE Forum ๐
Iโve been working in REPE for the past 3 years, but I started my career in Big 4 audit. In between audit and REPE, I spent a year in FP&A/fund management. While I like REPE, I am burnt out. The hours are no longer manageable (70-80, incl weekends), and I just canโt keep grinding.ย
ย
Lately, Iโve been casually looking at S&O type openings on LinkedIn. I have specific technical knowledge, but I think I also have general deal management/project management and Excel skills that could be useful.ย Do you guys think Iโm way off base, or could this be a real career option for me?ย
Hey Associate 2 in RE - Other, I swear if I had a silver banana for every lonely thread I posted too I'd be richer than @compbanker ...
More suggestions...
Hope that helps.
Bumpย
sorry, could you clarify what you mean by S&O?
thanks
Sure, I mean strategy & operations
i thought so but just wanted to be sure.
honestly, i have no experience in strategy and ops, but: 1) by commenting hopefully this thread will reach the eyes of someone more qualified to help you and 2) I do believe that former IBD guys go into strategy so if you play your cards right you should probs have a shot.
have you done a linkedin search perhaps to see if any general pe guys made the move, and then hit them up to explain ur sitch?
Yes, I had an informational interview last week and hope to have more. I think it's possible to make the move, but I'd love to hear from someone who's done it and also whether coming from a real estate PE is going to be too niche in employers' minds.ย
