Sophomore Internship 2015
Hey WSO,
I'm a sophomore at a top target (HYPW) w/ a 3.9 GPA in Math/Stat interested in working in consulting full time, hopefully at MBB. Over my freshman summer, I worked for an smaller (BB internship to get a solid name on my resume, but haven't gotten any interviews yet (seems like most SA recruiting is done?).
With that in mind, as it is January, what opportunities should I pursue to make myself the most attractive candidate for MBB Junior internships?
Should I still pursue BBs (network heavily now), return to my old firm (not in a location I really want to be in again though), seek T2/T3 consulting (not exactly sure how to find opportunities there), or study abroad (thinking of LSE program)?
My god... I was chillin' by the beach after my freshman summer. Kids are ambitious in these days.
You interned in Corp. Dev. your freshmen summer? Was it paid? And you have a return offer for full time?
Yeah it was paid. I have a return offer for this summer, not for a full time position.
was it a formal position or did u cold email/call and ask if they could use an intern?
im doing the same but at a top 50 school so just wondering about your experience
Big 4, BCG sophomore internship
It was a formal program. The position targeted sophomores and juniors but I emailed the hiring manager and talked about my interest in the company and got an interview.
BCG internships for sophs appears to be diversity focused (not a URM) and Big 4 seem to be on the Tax/Audit side (haven't taken any formal accounting classes)?
Bump. I'm really struggling to get interviews through OCR.
I would reach out to boutique consulting firms and try to get a summer internship there. At the consulting firm I'll be at full time, having prior consulting experience (even at a boutique) is a huge plus.
