Internship: Dubai or London?

Hi,

I'm an incoming 2nd year graduate student at Bocconi University (accounting and finance). From February I would like to start an internship in management consulting (MBB or T2) and I would like to do it abroad since except for an erasmus I lack international experience and I would like to go abroad. My main choices in this moment are London and Dubai. My questions are

  1. Since I am a 2nd year graduate student can I apply only to six months internship or are there any possibility to receive an offer for a shorter timeframe (I'm asking this because I have to write my thesis in the second semester)

  2. What are the odds of breaking into one of these two offices? (My profile: GPA 28.3/30, previous experience in a T2 consulting firm and three other internships non particularly relevant to management consulting)

  3. Can you tell me what are the differences between working in these two offices? (in terms of projects, salary, work life balance and culture)

  4. If I apply to these two offices when should I send the application (given that I would like to start in Febraury)?

Thanks a lot

I'm not sure about Dubai but in London, you do not choose when you can do your internship. Every single MBB and T2 internship happens over the summer (so it's 2 months - 6 is impossible) and you're only eligible if you're a penultimate year undergraduate student at the time of your application (i.e. you will be entering the final year of your bachelor's degree after you finish the internship). All MBB and T2 deadlines are in January 2023 for an internship in the summer of 2023. Some T2 firms might allow graduate (non-MBA) students to apply but it's generally not accepted (McK and BCG only accept undergrads, Bain doesn't have undergrad internships in London at all).
