From HS to Consulting?

I was wondering if people had advice/recommendations for someone in high school planning to go into consulting. Things like a suggested major (some say that it doesn't matter, but the slightest difference matters to me, what do employers prefer?), getting an intern, clubs, etc. I'm most concerned about a major/concentration in university, it's a choice I'm going to have to make soon.

  1. Consulting firms tend to like quant majors as work is analytic.
  2. Make sure you get the best grades from the start, GPA is very important.
  3. Make sure you are active in business clubs and anywhere you can gain leadership experience.
  4. Pick the major you really like, and be the best in it. That is what matters the most. They like top performers.

Basically you won't go wrong if you follow these...

Hm anyways... I just have a question for some people in consulting, or maybe just to anyone in general.

I made a recommendation to someone, to do something one way. Told him that it would be better and why several times. In the end, he messes it up because he doesn't listen. It's pissing me off to no end right now, is it normal? Would this kind of situation come up often for someone in consulting? This won't really affect my career goals, I'm just wondering.
