Big 4 IT Consulting Freelancing?

Can anyone specifically speak to big 4 IT consulting employees freelancing? I am a sick programmer with a client who wants to pay me what I get at my Big 4 to program on nights and weekends. The client graduated from a top 7 MBA and his company makes some dough.

Is this allowed? Is this frowned upon if I still put my 60+ hours in? Thoughts?

From one of the big 4 employees I worked alongside this summer, he said that it is in their contract that they cannot do side businesses even if it is completed unrelated. They want you focused solely on their business.

Might be different for others but I know that is the policy for one.

Yeah depends how you came in contact with your client. If it's through work, then I woyldnt advise it. Otherwise, it shouldn't be a problem. I have a friend at a big 4 that does side projects for start ups on wkends.

Big 4 IT Consulting moonlighting policy for an organization that begins with the letter D?

The company I want to do weekend work for is a family friend startup.

Just go ahead and do it, but keep it very quiet. They most likely will never find out unless you start posting it on your Facebook, Linkedin, or talking about it openly.
