Can tell for a few other EU offices - hours are typically tougher than other areas (think ~10-12% more), in parts to catch up in terms of market share vs. the bigger competitors in that area. Demand being a bit down these days makes it a bit more manageable, with potential down days every now and then.
Would still recommend the type of work and the extra hours vs. more routine projects (e.g. PMO-type work)...

What would be a typical work day hours? Is 9-8pm typical?
Also is the London office still employing WFH flexibility?
Here in a major US city I’d say PIPE hours are typically 9-11 M-W, 9-9 Th, 9-6 F. But note that that assumes you can do your job efficiently — if you’re a new hire it might be a bit more
PIPE is definitely one of the most intense rotations out there. 9-8pm is unheard of M-W in PIPE, unless you are on a team with an extremely strong manager and the associates are competent. People underestimate this- a good manager should be able to scope the work out so nobody is burned. Good associates should be able to do the job without working 75 hours/week. In your first DD project the hours are probably miserable, but once you get the hang of it the hours probably become more manageable. Every DD is different though.
Do you guys recommend doing PIPE long-term or will it limit your exit opps?
I went from a PIPE type group to a PE firm doing mid to large cap deals. I also went from the same PIPE type group to VC (long story). It's decent for a springboard to investing. Can't comment on other exit opp types.
Were you ex-Bain? I know Bain have very good placements to PE. Not sure about BCG
Are any of you able to comment on the type of interview for a PIPE role vs. a generalist role at BCG? Specifically for a Senior Associate or around that level?
I don't know about London, but I can speak for the Middle East offices. I've heard it can be quite brutal, 75-85h a week consistently, with heavy client stress and hard skills. That's why it's generally avoided there. It might be different in London due to the difference in client type.
