FT Offer Fundamental vs Quant AM

Got a FT offer at a MM Bank in London. I will be rotating through multiple divisions of the bank (s&t, ER, IB and AM)
I need to make a choice between fundamental and quant asset/portfolio management.

While generally both sound interesting, I was wondering about long-term career prospects and compensation. According to many academic papers fundamentals hardly beat the index. So do you think that fundamental AM is dying and not worth getting into?

Also, how much coding skills are required in quant AM? I have basic knowledge of c/c#, Java and Python
