Hello everyone. I signed up at Cheng's website a couple of months ago. I've been reading all his emails to me and the materials on his website. Now, I'm thinking of purchasing the program because I have a case interview coming up next month. Should I go ahead and purchase the program? It's expensive for me since I'm an undergrad so is it possible to get used? Any help is appreciated. TIA

This has been discussed
This has been discussed before - just search for Victor Cheng and see what pops up. Consensus is that it's not worth it unless you split it with a bunch of other people.
Books are a better
Books are a better investment. Though if you already spend on an MBA, i guess LOMS wont make the difference..
I think buy case in point and
I think buy case in point and use victor cheng as an added bit of material.

Well, Victor Cheng himself
Well, Victor Cheng himself admitted that the LOMS is most useful if you don't have anyone to practice with. If you do, just using the WSO guide and his freely available material should be enough.
I dislike case in point.
I didn't have people to
I didn't have people to practice cases with.
I read part of Case in Point and did not find it very useful, if at all, really.
I purchased LOMS full retail without splitting the cost with anyone.
I got the job.
Rana, what does you buying
Rana, what does you buying LOMS full retail and not splitting the cost with everyone have to do with you getting the job? Not everyone has $500 to line Victor Cheng's pockets, and not everyone who has bought LOMS gets an offer.
I think his point was that in
I think his point was that in his subjective view, the full retail price for LOMS was worth it.
Is that such an offensive statement?

Redninja, you need to work on your reading comprehension skills.
Frabjous does not.
Also, it doesnt cost 500 bucks.
Start with Case in Point.

With regards to practicing communication, finding a sharp interview partner is the best. If that is not possible, I recommend the sample case videos on firmsconsulting.com
Cheers.
To me, Rana was just sharing
To me, Rana was just sharing his experience, perspective, and the fact that he got the job. I don't understand why everybody here has to share the same attitude towards a product. 1st Amendment, man!
Doesn't the 1st amendment
Doesn't the 1st amendment give me the right to call out Victor Cheng and his products? Charging desperate students $500 for his opinions and advice is kind of ridiculous.

Of course it does.
But if you (intentionally or not) attack Rana for saying something he didn't say (which is: I got an offer because I got LOMS), don't be surprised if people apply snark towards your reading comprehension. ;)
$ 300, not worth it. IMHO.
$ 300, not worth it. IMHO. Live practice still beats it.
Edit: practice with people over Skype using consulting club caseguides.
I'm always surprised to see
I'm always surprised to see people commenting on the price of various materials. The prices of these books and programs (LOMS) are miniscule considering your career and livelihood for the next 40-50 years are at stake.
Live practice is obviously the best, and if you can get 40-50 cases (with good partners) under your belt you're golden. However, I'd rather get there with a fully fledged arsenal of tools up my sleeve to reduce my risk of failing.
At the end of the day, most of the people you practice with over Skype are other students who will give you almost no constructive or meaningful feedback, so you need some way to ensure that you're on the right track (getting the final answer correct is just part of the case, your voice tone, methodology, etc. are also key). Some of these ways include listening to LOMS which are real cases, paying to practice with real MBB consultants and/or networking with alumni/friends/whoever else is in consulting to run a few cases with you for free.
I used his free material to
I used his free material to get my job, and he honestly helped me a lot. I swear by him, but I'll say that the free content is more than enough.
